PFF coaches join int’l training

Philippine Football Federation regional technical director for Visayas John Carmona of San Carlos City and national team coach Aris Caslib recently attended a three-day Technical Directors Course in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Carmona and Caslib were among the licensed football coaches from the southeast invited to the ASEAN Football Federations-Frend Football Fededation Technical Directors Course

Carmona, who also pioneered the San Carlos City Football Club, said the training was conducted to update and raise the level of football in the southeast region. The Course was conducted by former Liverpool Manager and France Football Federation executive Gerard Houllier.

One of the topics discussed during the training was the evolution of the modern game, Carmona said, as participants noted that football is played faster in the modern times.

Aside from getting faster, the game has become forward oriented and emphasis was given to quick transition on defence and attack, he said, adding that national teams and even collegiate teams should know and adapt to these new trends.

Also stressed during the three-day training is the transformation of today’s players into coaches of tomorrow. The training instructor underscored the value of coaches and the development of players to higher level of competition, Carmona said.*NAB

  1. i hope the refereeing will keep up with coaches' trainings. you should see the refereeing in tournaments like in DepEd's district, regional, palaro football games. The kids could get seriously injured there.
