Fil-foreigners drop Mongolia trip ?

It seems that most of the fil-foreigners (foreign based ) players that played in first leg of the match against Mongolia is not going to Mongolia for second leg on
15. March.

Not going :
Neil Etheridge
Robert Gier

Doubtful :
Simon Greatwich
Jason de Jong

Possible :
Ray Jonnson

Confirmed playing in Mongolia :
Jason Sabio

Some of the expected reinforcements like Stephan Schröck, Chris Greatwich ,Dennis Cagara , Jerry Lucena and Patrick Hinrichsen will not be going to Mongolia.

Azkals team against Mongolia will be based on local homebased players and possible some few inexperienced fil-foreigners ?

If you got any news and opinion about the team for Mongolia, please post it in "comments" !

  1. This is definitely not good news if they are true. Homegrown players are not used to playing in very cold condition not to mention at subzero. PFF should request for reschedule or change of venue. alex m.

  2. not a good idea. i agree with alex, local players are not used to this extreme climate.

  4. @JOE passport issue....

  5. Schröck injured, Cagara and Lucena did not get passport ontime for deadline for AFC. Maybe Lucena in Myanmar , , I got my doubts about that.. Chris Greatwich has told he cant go and Hinrichsen tweeted yesterday that he cant go to Mongolia, but ready for Myanmar if they qualify

  6. @ Alex : match has already been rescheduled. Group matches start 6 days later in Myanmar

  7. If this is how weak the squad will be for the away leg to Mongolia, I wouldn't be surprised if the Philippines loses and gets dumped out of the competition.

  8. Dennis Cagara will definitely not be there. He is still hoping bec. of the unsettled situation at left back, that he might get called up by the Danish national team. Most observers there though agree that his chances are very slim, as there are a lot of players ahead of him, he is injury prone, and relatively old at 25 to make a debut for the national team plus he doesn't even have a contract yet with a professional team as he is just coming of a serious injury. It will take take time for him(about a month or two) to file a change of affiliation with FIFA, since he played with several Danish youth teams in the past, so I don't see him going to Myanmar either. I hope he makes his decision in time for WC qualifiers.

As for Jerry, he wants to go as soon as his passport is processed but I doubt his club will allow him to leave for both the Mongolia and Myanmar stints. They might allow him to go to Myanmar. If not, WC qualifiers will be next as that will occur during the postseason.

Yup Patrick said that his passport was not received in time by AFC for the Ulan Bator stint, so Myanmar is his next possible stint. Schrock will be gone for 10 weeks bec. of injury, so he is out as well for both events.

Hopefully Van Bosche, the Hall brothers and Espinosa will have their passports in time for the Myanmar stint.

  9. You mention "the Myanmar stint" as if we've qualified already. It was always going to be tough to go Mongolia, but more so since it seems like we're gonna have a very weak squad. So our chances of reaching Myanmar isn't assured yet.

  10. It's not that bad.

There's still Phil and Ian up front, Chieffy James and Gener at midfield, and Aly and Anton in defense. Okey na si Sacapano as keeper, and Sabio can play midfield. That leaves 2 defensive positions for the next-in-line.

But yes, without the more experienced players, the team probably won't be as strong, and the reserve pool for that match will be weak.

  11. Araneta is wasteful, Sacapano is a below par goalkeeper who is also short and Gener sucks and is old. Sabio is a defender that can play right back or central defense. So he'll take Gier's spot beside Aly. That leaves the midfield as being really weak especially if De Jong doesn't make the trip.

  12. This is the main reason why our national team needs a solid pool of players para kung baga hindi na tayo totally dependent sa 1st 11 line-up. The reserves should be as good or at least at par with the starting line-up. Ang problema pa eh kung kailan talaga kailangan yung mga half-fil ay doon naman (almost majority)sila hindi available but I'm not undermining our local players the point is mahihirapan talaga sila sa -10 deg temperature=/

  13. Agree with the previous posts. They have a squad of locals, but there are players that are better than some of them, but theyre not chosen of some various reasons, im talking about other local players who are better than some of those in the squad. Its like they picked a squad and stuck with it. Its what like the previous coaches did and previous PFF regiment used to do.

  14. I find it difficult to understand why the squad of local players are all based in Manila except Paolo Pascual in Cebu. A Negros selection drew Azkals 4-4 and I would expect some of them joined the training pool but got my doubts. Would be interesting to see the players list that PFF sent to AFC and see the names of players at the Baguio training camp.

  15. I'm a bit surprised by this news. I would have figured that this game in Mongolia would be the game where you would want your fil-foreign players. None of the locals have ever played in this type of cold weather before. Thinking that the 50 degree weather in Baguio is going to replicate the playing conditions in Mongolia is humorous at best. Theyre going to be in for a real culture shock.

  16. Sacapano is below par? Gener sucks and is old? Araneta is wasteful? Well it seems Wiess doesnt think so. Do you know how long these guys have been playing at the international level and what they give the team. Geez, are you even Filipino? I wonder if you can do any better you unpatriotic fuck.. They are preparing for one of the most important games of their career and all you have to say is that load of bull.

  17. the critical part would be the midfield.. rob's spot i think will be covered by jason.. if ray can't make it gener will be the LB.. but the important part is the CM.. if de jong and the greatwichs are out.. who are the possible players that will make an impact at midfield?.. or will coach weiss do a 4-5-1 formation to control lang the midfield.. your thoughts?.. ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  18. i like this idea. the local-based players need a challenge and it's coach weiss' decision after all. it will be a great game. sorry na lang if they lose, then you can blame coach. if they don't lose, then the azkals have really improved. and all you fake azkaleros are going to stop talking shit on your own team. sus mongolia lang eh grabe stress niyo.

  19. @ Jay -
Are you actually watching the national team, or you just following them via the internet? Who the fuck else would the coach pick when there's a limited pool of players to choose from? So naturally he has to pick the best from a pool of below par players.

If you've actually been watching the national team, then you would see for your own eyes that Araneta is and continues to be wasteful in front of goal. That's also why it took him six years to score his first international goal.

Sacapano is below par. Even before Etheridge was discovered he either wouldn't get picked or if he did, he'd be second fiddle to a younger and smaller GK... i.e. Michael Casas.

Gener was never that great to begin with, but now as 36 year old? And you're gonna tell me that he's an 'asset to the national team? Right. Just look at 2010 Suzuki Cup (if you actually watched), McMenemy put him at the right wing, but he was chasing shadows most of the time.

  20. wonderin' what can yokyok do on the pitch?.. hope he gets a call.. and will gueridonn play?..
michael casas?.. interesting.. where is he now?.. and the other beda boys.. the members of the azkals then with sir aris?..

  21. @jay, patriotic or not isnt the issue here. a player can still suck even if im patriotic. its about being realistic and seeing the truth for what it is. heck, im even on level with some of the local guys in the squad and i have never been close to playing pro football. ive seen some of those local guys play, and ive played against some of them. there are better players in philippines than some of those in the squad. look at for example reymark palmes. wtf?! what did he ever do to be in the squad in the first place. ive seen sacapano play also, and like previously stated, he is below par. and that camcam kid is even worse as what ive been told. so why are they in the squad? thats what i ask.

@trick, well aris certainly had some favourites also like all other previous coaches. and those were casas, liman, orcullo bros and others.

  22. A list of possible players for the Bacolod game had to be submitted to the AFC within a week of coach Weiss landing in Manila. There's no way he could have assessed any squad properly with dozens of trialists cluttering up the UMAK pitch and all experienced fil-fors not even in the country. That list could only have been prepared by Palami or other PFF top brass.
Fortunately the Azkals won but a 2-0 home win against such a clueless team should have rung alarm bells not celebration ones. Still, you're not supposed to change a winning side and we can only hope those familiar faces can finish off the job in Ulan Bator. And hope too - with no time to prepare any new ones - they can make us even prouder in Myanmar.

But when he's got time to really assert his authority (assuming that's possible here; a coach is just a coach in Europe but the Manager pulls the real strings) Herr Weiss may have a few surprises up his sleeve.

  23. I ve probably been watching these Azkals and the teams before them so I dont need lectures on how they play..In fact i been watching them even before there was internet. But you dont disrespect fellow players who have gone further than you because it shows a lack of class which probably goes hand in hand with being unpatriotic. Thats exactly my point, there is such a small pool of players and these are the best guys we can come up with. Tryouts were announced and anybody could have shown up. If players from halfway across the world could show up why the hell didnt you try? or did you and are just sour graping now because if you made it, would you have such harsh comments for a team mate? Think of it, they are there and your here complaining about how they suck? Whether they are good or not in your eyes, they are the best because they were selected to wear the shirt. You talk of the merits of each player, Gener is still an asset because the coach says he is. End of story. If you dont agree, Tell Weiss otherwise. I win this argument easy because he is still a member of the team and Gener will probably play against the Mongolians to prove my point. You want to make your own selection than go show the PFF you know better. Those players and the rest of the team would probably kick your ass if you had the balls to say that in their faces and thats probably why you cant sign your name here. And for your information I have been commenting on Araneta's finishing for a long time but Ive tempered my comments because whatever anyone thinks of him, he is still first choice and is gonna play the majority of our games. When you have been selected to play in front of 80,000 hostile fans and score a tonne of goals then you can talk about being wasteful. You dont make those comments as someone who has played and feels your at par with him. If you dont know what I mean then you've never really been part of a team. Those kind of comments are made by armchair analysts not by fellow players. Your mistake is you mentioned you played with them. Which makes everything worse. Six years ago we were never this good and were even lucky to score a few goals in one tournament. So stop mentioning these stats just to have something smart to say. Every goal Araneta will score for the Azkals will be one more than you ever will.

  24. Jay, I have a lot of respect for you for dealing with this annoying little prick. The exact words and thoughts you weave for the kind of hopeless situation this guy must be in right now is pure class and profesionalism. I wish most of us lesserfolks could be as nice as you.

Mr anonymous, I think you are full of it, man. You try to come across as a sound football guy with your "realistic" comments but we all know sometime in your past you were probably molested by your dad or your uncle...uncles? Did they play football too, I bet they did. I mean really, what is your problem, dude? Is it really that bad? Don't drag the Azkals into your drama, pre, we won't let cock blocks like you ruin our journey. Put one in your head if you want to, get it over with, son. And please, don't leave a note. We already know what you're gonna say.

  25. Now now girls. If you can't handle criticism without throwing your toys out of the pram you shouldn't really be on this page.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I am the one girl (woman!!!) and probably the only one here you've just now looked down on, mr macho man. Did you just say "pram"? Go back to your crossword puzzle you sexist chauvinist sorry ass puke!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well, truth hurt doesnt it, thats why you people have to call names and say we got molested by family members. Sorry biatch, there is a bigger chance that YOU were the one who was molested by your uncle or your dad. And they probably didnt play football either. And big chance that you dont even pay attention to football, but you became fan of the azkals because you like to suck the fil-foreigners cock. Go ahead miss, take a pick!

@Jay, and as for you, ive been following the team for decades also. So pls dont think youre the only one who has been following the team before they suddenly had success. Just like everyone else on the INTERNET, i am entitled to say what i want, and to say whats on my mind. Im honest, so dont bash someone because theyre honest. Im still patriotic, but im not so damn stupid that ill still defend players who shouldnt be on the team. Gener might be still decent, but the future isnt on his side. Not Barsales either. There are younger players who can evolve to much better player than they ever were, but how can they when they pick old guys from the Army team just because they are based in Manila. Yeah, Weiss is the coach, but we dont know whats going on in the background. Like former coach Simon. Looked like to be a great coach, but the truth from players and management was totally different from what Simon say. Btw, i never bashed Araneta. That was another guy. I know its a figure of speech, but Araneta never scored tons of goals. I have played with some of them, and so what? Ive seen that some of them arent that good. You say that the pool of players is so small, and whos fault is that? Certainly not my fault. PFF? YES!

Hopefully now that the sport is gaining more and more attention, the PFF will open up their eyes more to players based OUTSIDE of Manila. Like owner of this blog said, a local team tied the RESERVES the NATIONAL TEAM. So there are players out there who are better than the reserves. You probably know that, but you just dont want to admit it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. One. I never said i had a monopoly on following the Azkals. You asked if i actually have watched the Azkals or just followed them through the internet. I just clarified that issue for you. Please try to understand what I am saying. Your poor grasp of the language is probably why you think I am defending these players. Same reason why you mistake your arrogance and disrespect for fellow players and fans as just telling the "truth". Its not about the players (as I dont know these guys personally and have only seen them play over the years) but more of your lack of class. I certainly know how to handle criticism if I go off the handle. Your treatment of the opposite sex basically cements your burgeoning reputation. I completely agree with you that you have every right to embarrass yourself on the internet and will not prevent you from doing so.

Two. The PFF hasnt done its job for a long time. They have announced measures they are going to take to find players in the regions. Whether they do that is another thing. But this is the team and they are the ones empowered to select the players. You either are a patriotic fan or a bitter and cynical SOB who would just like to bring these guys down while they are preparing for one of the most important games for Philippine football. Again in the guise of being realistic and truthful.

Three. Did you also take a swipe at Aris for having his favorites? Just like other coaches? This time, Aris I know personally. Aris has earned his right to be there. This makes you again sound so cynical and arrogant. Why are you so anti-establishment? You saying if you were the coach (heaven forbid), you wouldnt have your favorites? Again, it sounds smart but in reality its not. Coaches are there to select the players from the squad who they have trained and have shown how they react to pressure situations (again Gener is a talking point vs. someone who hasnt played a single international game for the country). Dont trivialize the job to the level of picking favorites. Try getting an A license. In fact try getting a C license. These comments youve made havent been thought through very effectively. It really takes from whatever insider and technical knowledge you have. I am really trying to see where your coming from. But comments like "I have played with some of them, and so what?" right after mentioning how lousy, old and unqualified they are. I just dont see any merit in that kind of disrespect to fellow footballers and team mates

    ReplyDelete
  29. Mr macho anonymous, you are a joke. Man up and have the balls to come out with at least a name instead of anonymous. I not a man but I wish I had one between my legs that I could use to slap you upside your head. I dont dig any of the azkals on my bed, but if ever I change my mind, why the hell not? The hell with Fil-fors, why not the whole team? See, I can! You on the other hand, you can only wish and fantasize getting gangfucked by the whole team whenever your old man and uncle bend you over.

But you are a joke and that's the truth. Your football sucks ass and you need to either get out of our way or head to the nearest cemetery, put a gun on your head and pull the trigger.

You don't know what bitch means until you get bitch slapped by one. I'll see you around, loser.
