PFF Men’s U19 Visayas Qualifiers kicks off today

THE Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Men’s National U19 Championship Visayas Regional Qualifiers kicks off today at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

The bootfest, which will run from April 26 to 29, is aimed at reviving the national and local competitions, as well as in helping identify talents for the men's U19 national team which will see action in international competitions later this year.

Host Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) will be facing Cebu FA in the opening match at 2 p.m., followed by the scrimmage between the teams from Iloilo FA and Leyte FA at 4 p.m.

According to the event’s general coordinator Paulline Javelona, the NOFA-Negros Selection will be mentored by Randy Clavecillas and will be bannered by booters from the cities of Talisay, Victorias, Bago and Bacolod.

Five teams will be vying for the regional title to earn a slot in the national finals in Manila, tentatively slated May 20 to 29. These are the Cebu FA, Leyte FA, Iloilo FA, Negros Oriental FA (NORFA) and host- NOFA.


Meanwhile, overseeing the tournament are PFF Competitions Department Head Cyril Dofitas, Javelona, Tournament Commissioner Dennis Estaniel, Referee’s Assessor Leo Dayot and Medical Committee Head Dr. Emily Zerrudo. (JSG)
