DESPITE having new players in its squad, Convergys Ladies Football Club defended its title in the women’s open of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines Football Cup at Cebu International School yesterday.
Convergys escaped from Accenture, 1-0, through a last-minute goal by Evonnie Urtal.

It was a close match between the two teams but Convergys was more aggressive and had most of the ball possession.
“We were really happy because we played as a team even if we don’t have the same players from last year,” said Abe Vick, one of the rookies in the team.
Only four players remained in the lineup from the squad last year that gave Convergys their first championship title.
The back-to-back wins in the ECCP Football cup gave Convergys a payoff for their hard work in practices. The ladies team train with their boys team twice a week.
Meanwhile, NCR Cebu Development Center’s three-peat attempt was cast off after it failed to advance to the finals, which saw Accenture bowing to Tsuneishi.
With their wins, Convergys and Tsuneishi will be sent to Manila to face the champions of the Manila event this November.
