Stallion downs Green Archers in extra time

 Penson Stallion Giligan’s clawed back from a second half deficit to dispatch Green Archers United Globe in extra time, 3-1, and reach the United Football Cup finals Tuesday night at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
Team captain Ruben Doctora, Jr. scored two goals, while Lee Won Hyung chipped in one goal to help Stallion setup a finals clash with defending League champion Global next week.
After a nil-nil score at halftime, striker Tating Pasilan hit the net at the 55th minute to give the Green Archers the lead.
But the Green Archers suffered a huge blow after defender Lawrence Ikegwuruka was sent off from the match after acquiring his second yellow card midway through the second half, forcing the team to play with just 10 men.
Moments after, Doctora scored his first goal at the 70th minute to tie the match.
Stallion had the chance to grab the lead late in the match, but Jovanie Simpron missed an open shot at the goal in stoppage time.
Green Archers then found an opportunity take the victory after Nam Yeul Woo of Stallion acquired his second yellow card after a collision with Pasilan on the top of the penalty box which led to a free kick. But Ayi Nii Aryee’s shot went way above the bar, bringing the match to extra time.
After a scoreless result in the first added period, Stallion broke loose as OJ Clarino zigzagged his way inside the box and found Lee, who buried a goal to give their team a 2-1 lead in the 11 minutes into extra time.
Doctora then fired another goal almost seven minutes after to seal the comeback victory for Stallion.
Stallion, which entered the first division just last year, will battle the powerhouse squad of Global, which has not suffered a loss in its past 20 matches, in the Cup final next week. The match will be aired live on AKTV.
