Berlin saves CFA in PFF festival

Saturday, February 23, 2013
SACRED Heart School Ateneo de Cebu booter Carlos Berlin saved
the day for Cebu Football Association as they survived the Iloilo
Football Association, 2-1, yesterday in the Philippine Football Federation
Visayas Football Festival in San Carlos City.
Berlin had to get past six defenders to pit the winning goal, which kept
CFA's bid for the Under-13 title alive. The first goal came from
Ivan Ouano from the University of
the Southern Philippines Foundation.
The victory against IFA was the team’s second win.
They also won their first game against Negros Oriental Football Association,
5-1.
Meanwhile, the Girls 14 ended its run yesterday with one win and loss.
The squad won over Norfa, 3-1; but surrendered to Negros Occidental
Football Association (Norfa), 2-0.
It was a different story for the Under-11 squad as they bowed to Norfa
in the first game, 4-1. The team will try to redeem itself today as it plays
its last two games against Ifa and Nofa.

  1. Its a no show for LeyteFA for this FOF. I wonder what are the real reason behind their non appearance which supposedly an exposure for their best players against the whole Visayas region. I've heard Dan Palami invested much in their grassroots since the re-launch of Kasibulan last year.
How can Leyte improve its football when they won't participate in this PFF grassroots festival?

  2. LeyteFA maybe doesn't need their grassroots because they always rely on local imports to play alongside with their players. Like what I saw last year in Alaska Cup and this year's Thirsty Cup where CIE Tacloban hired San Carlos-Negros based players to play with them depriving its own in the making. In a seven aside format 6 players from San carlos are into starters while only one is from Tacloban. Anonymous25 February 2013 12:37 is right in its assessment regarding the LeyteFA state of football.
The blueprint of Dan Palami's Azkals and LeyteFA are all the same- 'Hire imports in anyway you can and achieve higher success rate.'
I wonder if the parents of their benched players are ok with these? And Leyte will always be the laughing stock of Football in the powerhouse Visayas region.
