Goalkeeper Sacapano joins Global

Global FC continued to shore up its lineup in preparation for the AFC Presidents Cup by acquiring national team goalkeeper Eduard Sacapano on loan from United Football League side Army.

Sacapano's move was disclosed Wednesday by boss Dan Palami, who said the inclusion of the national team keeper to the Global side is definitely a huge boost to the side.

The President's Cup only allows two foreigners in the lineup and while Roland Sadia has been solid, coach Brian Reid would need more options in the position to also allow him to tinker with his lineup on other areas on the field.

Sacapano's move comes a week after Global snapped up Jason de Jong from Stallion on another loan deal.

"I'm joining Global to really help them in the Presidents Cup," said Sacapano, the recipient of the Mr Football Award recently.

Sacapano, who sparkled for the Azkals in the friendly against Singapore and in the Suzuki Cup in the absence of Neil Etheridge, said the move is not long-term as he is still an enlisted personnel in the Army.

Sacapano said he hopes to bring leadership and confidence with Global, acknowledging the good form of Sadia.

With most of his teammates in the national side also with Global, Sacapano said familiarity will not be a problem.

"Its just like you're in the national team," said the 32-year-old Bago City native.
