USJ-R, not U23 champ USPF, to represent Cebu in Suzuki

IT WILL still be the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R) that will represent Cebu in the Under-23 Suzuki Cup.
The two-year tournament, which is part of the selection process for the Under 23 team that will play in the Southeast Asian Games, had its eliminations last year and will have the regional and national finals this year.
USJ-R earned the right to represent Cebu after winning the under-23 division of the Aboitiz Cup last 2012.
Even if it was University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) that won the under-23 this year, it was not considered an elimination round for the Cebu representative but as just one of the age groups in the tournament.
Last year, Cebu made it to the top three in the Visayas elimination along with Negros Occidental Football Association and Negros Oriental Football Association. Other teams that played were Leyte Football Association and Iloilo Football Association.
The top three teams will face each other this April in San Carlos City for the Visayas finals. The tournament will use a double round-robin format and the top two will advance to the national finals in May in Dumaguete.
USJ-R recently represented Region 7 in the Private Schools Athletic Association National finals in Pangasinan.
