UFL leader Stallion not taking Air Force lightly

By Karlo Sacamos

Stallion-Sta. Lucia hopes to avoid a slip-up in its drive toward a second straight United Football League title when it takes on Philippine Air Force on Thursday night at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig.
With a six-game winning streak, the reigning UFL Cup champions have maintained their place at the top of the 10-team top flight with 36 points.
And with the way they have been performing, the Stallions are poised to take the League title away from Global, currently two points behind them in second place.
Despite having tougher games ahead, the Stallions are solely focused on their 7:30 match against a relatively lighter foe in the Airmen.
“We’re not looking past Air Force,” Stallions coach Ernie Nierras said after his team’s 3-2 victory over Kaya last week.
The ninth-running Airmen, who lost to the Stallions, 2-7, in the first round, are expected to give their top-ranked opponents a stiffer resistance this time as they try to avoid relegation.
Nomads and PSG collide earlier at 5:15 p.m. in a battle of middle-tier teams on losing streaks.
Nomads, in sixth place with 12 points, hopes to finally arrest a seven-game slide, while PSG, running seventh with 11 points, tries to put an end to its own four-game skid.
