Football icons Cannavaro and Wise to suit up in Clear Dream Match

By Karlo Sacamos

WO football legends are set to grace the Clear Dream Match when the charity All-Star game holds its second edition on August 24 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Fabio Cannavaro and Dennis Wise are expected to spice up the event as they will be among the draftees whom Phil and James Younghusband are allowed to pick for the fundraising match.
Cannavaro is a former Real Madrid standout who is best known for skippering Italy in capturing the World Cup in 2006.
Wise, on the other hand, is a former Chelsea skipper who has won two FA Cups, a English Premier League Cup, and a Uefa Cup winners trophies for the squad.
“This doesn’t happen very often. I’m very proud and so lucky to have this opportunity to play with them,” Phil said on Wednesday during the launch of the event at the K-Pub BBQ restaurant at Bonifacio Global City.
Along with Phil, James suited up for Chelsea’s training team in their youth careers and the brothers had the chance to watch Wise play.
“We used to watch Wise play all the time. He is like a legend to us,” James said. “But I’d be honored to pick either. They’re all great leaders.”
The two distinguished booters are shoo-ins in the match, but the rest of the draftees will have to be voted in by the fans, starting on July 10 on Clear’s Facebook page.
The draft pool contains 50 of the best professional, collegiate, and celebrity booters in town, like national team mainstays Chieffy Caligdong, OJ Porteria, Chris Greatwich, and Carli de Murga.
Once the voting ends, the Younghusbands, playing on opposite sides again, will pick their players from the draft set August 10.
The proceeds of the match, won by Team Phil, 5-1, last year, will again go to the Tuloy sa Don Bosco Foundation.
