Global FC unveils "more balanced" squad

Global will parade a “more balanced squad” as the club hopes to reclaim glory in the United Football League.
Global coach Leigh Manson noted that the squad will be a more balanced one as the club had to sacrifice a number of players last season due to national team duty.
"We got a more balanced squad," said Manson, whose team opens its campaign against Loyola Meralco on Tuesday at Emperador Stadium.
"We don't want the squad to be struggling in the league so we worked hard with the players we signed to have more balance."
Chief Executive Dan Palami also hopes the changes in the lineup will lead to a more competitive side from last season where Global finished lost in the quarterfinals of the Cup and wound up second in the league.
"We wanted to make sure that we will be even more competitive this year than the last," said Palami. " The whole season will not be decided by the strongest starting 11 but rather by the whole squad."
Among the new signings is defender Charles Pettys, who is eager to play for Global ahead of their opening fixture against Loyola Meralco Sparks.
"It's good test right at the start of the season to face one of our toughest rivals," said the defender.
Joining Pettys in the club are Leytenos Papiniano Macayan and John Regis.
"This club is one of the best in the Philippines, it's an honor to be part of this and I hope I can contribute," said Macayan, who was part of the squad that featured in the PFF-Smart National Club Championships.
"I'll show to my fellow Leyteños that there will always be a chance to play football," said Regis, who was part of the Homeless World Cup squad last year.
Skipper Ben Starosta, who is now on his second year with the club, hopes that club stays focused in achieving their goals this season.
"Our target is to win the league," said the former Polish youth international.

  3. the exit of foreigners to league means

its either the league will lose some quality and it will be not popular anymore , and continue to slide down

or develop local talents , but still slide down

or develop local talents and will be popular.

  4. I'll choose to develop local talents and will be popular in the future dahil pang masa talaga kung may homegrowns sa mga team..

  8. Roxy Dorlas lng ang nakita ko kagabi na homegrown player sa Loyola starting XI which is not good to Philippine Football and also to the masses if they want to market the league in the hearts of the locals..
