United Football League Division Two side Ceres-La Salle FC has bolstered its squad anew after adding three more members of the Philippine national men’s football team.
Jason Sabio and brothers Marwin and Marvin Angeles are the latest Azkals players to join the roster of Ceres, coach Ali Go confirmed to InterAksyon.com.
Once a fixture in the Azkals lineup, Sabio suited up for Kaya FC in the UFL two years ago before going back home to the United States to pursue his studies.
“Jason is a very good central defender and very good in the air. It will bring stability in defense,” Go said.
“He has a lot of experience also, can help and set plays also in attack. His work ethic is good also.”
The Angeles brothers were members of Global FC before being released by the club this month.
The signings came just a few weeks after Ceres added Azkals members Patrick Reichelt and Carlie De Murga. The two made their presence felt for the club immediately, helping the squad climb to the top of the Division Two table.
Apart from their bid for promotion to Division One next season, Ceres is beefing up its roster for their stint in the Asian Football Confederation President’s Cup in Bacolod City this year.
The tournament will feature champion clubs from emerging football nations around the continent.
Ceres earned the right to represent the Philippines in the tournament after winning the national club title last year.
