The Philippine Football Federation today launched the PFF Women’s Invitational Cup 2015 in a press conference held at the PFF House of Football in Pasig City.
Now on its 2nd year, the all ladies tournament will be held from 9 August to 20 September, 2015 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium and newly-constructed artificial football pitch in City of Binan.
The 10 participating teams were divided into two groups through an official draw. In Group B are Chelsea FC SS Ladies, Dela Salle University Women’s Team, University of the Philippines Women’s Team-X, Lady Tamaraw FC, and University of Santo Tomas Women’s Team. The teams are composed of both current and former varsity and national players.
The Official Draw was graced by Senator Pia Cayetano who expressed her strong support for the promotion of football, particularly women’s football. Stating that she herself is a “soccer mom”, she believes that football is a sports appropriate to the built and height of Filipinos, adding that “as a policy, we should focus on sports where we innately have an advantage, or at the very least do not have a disadvantage.”
PFF President Mariano Araneta emphasized the importance of women’s football in PFF’s thrust, noting that it sets aside 15% of funds received from FIFA and AFC for Women Football. Aside from this tournament, PFF is also conducting for the second year in a row a nationwide implementation of an Under-14 Girl’s competition in all the PFF provincial football associations. He noted the timeliness of promoting women’s football given the success of the recent FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 held in Canada.
PFF General Secretary Atty. Ed Gastanes clarified that unlike last year’s edition which was a 9- a side tournament, this year’s edition is 11-a side competition at 90-minute per match.
Tournament Commissioner is Ernie Nierras while Tournament Chairman is Cyril Dofitas. A Technical Study Group headed by National Women’s Team Head Coach Letecia Bautista will be observing all the games to scout for possible talents that may be included in the national pool for next year’s international competitions.

  1. good for women football,i hope not only for women, but,we should support also regional league, champion vs champion, girls and boys, luzon to mindanao, they will meet twice in semis and final, and what i read from the news today, that our president has no ambition when it come in uplifting sports program, excluded basketball(in my point of view) basketball has many sponsors, impeding other sports growth, because they are the darling of sports media, i noticed almost 90% of sports show hours in our country revered those stars,it so intoxicating, too much basketball pave way in making a SMOKE SCREEN in our sport real condition,in the other hand, one of the major sponsor: states that "bball is the fabric of our culture" which means they picked only what they liked, not really true to their motives, partiality is in their minds, whereas, thailand is the best model when comes to sports program, even though, football is their national sport darling,it seems pinoys are being blinded by too much hype in our sport hope in basketball, plus, fanning the desire of being a tall guy in asean,"its not about height or something its all about passion" one advertisement on tv, project, only oligarchs benefited it,yeah, but in reality,FIASCO pinoy bball, come on !please support philippine sports, exclude, basketball,i am totally biased that is true, because of their partial in philippine sport, whether you like it or not basketball will survive, because of too much, big companies interested in the world of midgets sport in never never win land,i hope that captain hook will cut those crooks seating in these thrones of corruption, philippine sport, support only those who are real gold finder sports, not those midgets,if you failed, then, you compromised to your golden rule before:" lets support only those sports that lay golden egg'' uttered by those gold diggers.

    2. if were talking about Gilas..Sayang.

bb in Pi never evolve hanggang ngayong stagnant sa pagiging Imperial Manila league pa rin commercial set up domestic basketball.

mabuti pa ang Iran they have strong basketball, football & volleyball national squads.

in next decades football in PI will overtake basketball bilang national past time dahil dumadami ang new generation and next future generation ang mas nagkaka interes sa football kaysa BBall.

in next decade PBA will still stuck in NCR pero Football may national premier league na.

  2. noong previous decades Oligarch media and business sectors kaya pa nilang i brainwash ang mga tao na ang Basketball raw ay nasa dugo nating mga Filipino.

how come nasa genes & blood natin yan? it is a myth.
