Araneta says logistics play factor in choosing "viable" PFL homes

By Ivan Saldajeno

PASIG--Every time an inter-city league is being set up, the issue on logistics is always being tackled considering the demise of the MBA in 2002.

PFF president Nonong Araneta told the media on Tuesday that the logistic factor somewhat helped in finding the most suitable pitches for the upcoming PFL, which will start in March next year.

"Kailangan viable, kaya tinignan namin sa studies, and we have to inform the clubs," Araneta told some mediamen after the launch of the new "national football league" at the Marco Polo Hotel.

Prior to the press conference, a technical meeting was conducted with the representatives of the Metro Manila-based UFL regarding the new league that will become the new top flight in the Philippine football ladder.

Four Metro Manila cities were listed as "fit" to host a PFL game, namely Manila, Makati, Quezon City, and Marikina, although General Secretary Ed Gastanes said that the PFF is open to accepting clubs representing cities outside the viable hosts lists, citing Taguig, which has the McKinley Hill Stadium, as an example.

The Rizal Memorial Stadium has become the main home of the UFL for a long time, although the UMak Athletic Oval, the Marikina Sports Complex, and even the Taguig pitch once played host to the league.
